Pride Through Giving

The Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation initiated Pride Through Giving in 2020 in order to provide financial and in-kind support to our community beyond our projects like the LGBTQ+ Center and Honolulu Pride.

With our sponsors, community partners and individual donors, we donated over $20,000 and many hours of volunteer service to Hawai’i-based groups addressing the needs of those most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic including the Hawai’i Food Bank, the Hawai’i Health & Harm Reduction Center, Aloha Harvest and Gregory House Programs.

In 2021 we focused on in-kind assistance through community partnerships, leadership development and building public awareness of issues important to Hawai’iʻs LGBTQ+ people and our families. Through our Rainbow Town Hall series of intersectional dialogues we worked with Waiwai Collective, Lambda Law Students Association, John A. Burns School of Medicine, the UH Mānoa LGBTQ+ Center, the Gay Agenda Collective and others.

In 2022 we made donations totaling more than $15,000 to Neighbor Island Pride Festivals on Maui, Lanaʻi, Kauaʻi and in Hilo and Kona; and to Hawai’iʻs LGBTQ+ athletic leagues, aiming to amplify their critical support of the physical and social health and well-being of our community.

To support our Pride Through Giving initiatives, you can make a donation, or become a sponsor or volunteer to help us educate and empower LGBTQ+ people as integral members of Hawai’iʻs larger diverse community.
