Join Mental Health America of Hawaii (MHAH) and the The Maui Equality Coalition in observance of Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20, 2023 at Kamaole I Beach Park at 5:00 pm. Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is a nationwide event first started by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was brutally murdered in 1998. The Maui event will commemorate all those transgender individuals who suffered violent, senseless deaths in 2023.

During the event there will be a reading of the list of those we have lost nationwide this year. The event will end at sunset with a flower ceremony at the shore break.   The LGBTQ+ Community, Allies, and the general public to participate.  Feel free to bring loose flowers for the ending ceremony.
