The Just Futures Youth Summit will bring Hawaii’s strongest youth voices together with community advocates and legislators to shape a vision for the 2021 Legislative Session.

It will focus on issues that young people have said, throughout multiple forums and organized events during this pandemic, are critical and need to be addressed: minimum wage, social-emotional support for young people, more emergency shelters for youth, lowering the voting age, emancipation, homelessness, and Hawaiian education in our DOE, among others.

Desired outcomes will be 1) to develop clarity and consensus around priorities for the upcoming session, and 2) to create a space for listening, dialogue, and learning about civic power.

The Civic Education Council is engaged in the work of hearing, elevating and honoring youth voice. The work of CEC is aimed at providing a holistic, grassroots approach to solving some of our society’s biggest challenges. CEC believes young people are the key to historically informed political change that works towards our desired preferred future.
