Script Synopsis: Hawai`i in the 1970s was a time of reclamation, discovery and pride. For Lovey Lee, a young queer Hawaiian, the 70s is about finding a place where they can just be. Even with Hawai`i’s cultural renaissance at its peak and the sexual liberation movement booming throughout the nation, the journey of any brave pioneer is often complicated and fraught with challenges. In this coming of age story, Lovey finds themself journeying from their island home and back again in their search for place.
Note from the Director: This show is based on the real- life story of an amazing human. It is also a beautiful and sometimes heartbreaking queer story. I am looking for non-binary and queer representation on stage to share this journey. Please note that we have invited the cast who premiered this show on zoom in 2021 to reprise their roles, so the list below does not reflect the whole cast. Some roles may be double cast.
