Hoʻoulu Lāhui: Regenerating Oceania
June 6
From June 6-16, 2024, Hawaiʻi will host FestPAC, the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture, which will draw more than 2,200 delegates from at least 28 Pacific countries and U.S. territories. FestPAC will be a vibrant and culturally enriching celebration of the unique traditions, artistry, and diverse cultures of the Pacific region. Events will be held at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center, Capitol Modern, the Bishop Museum, the Royal Hawaiian Center, and UH Māno, among other venues.
FestPAC serves as a platform for Pacific Island nations to showcase their rich heritage and artistic talents. Primarily focused on the Pacific Islands’ arts and culture, there will also be discussions on how islands are tackling the impacts of climate change, tourism, geopolitics and other pressing issues facing the Pacific.
The Festival of Pacific Arts & Culture (FestPAC) is the world’s largest celebration of indigenous Pacific Islanders. The South Pacific Commission (now The Pacific Community – SPC) launched this dynamic showcase of arts and culture in 1972 to halt the erosion of traditional practices through ongoing cultural exchange.
