Starting on January 1, 2024, the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) will go into effect. This new law is directly aimed at owners of corporations, LLCs, and similar state-level registered entities, and requires beneficial owners to file a report with the Financial Crime Enforcement Network (FinCEN). The purpose this is new law and requirement is to combat money laundering. This Beneficial Owners Information (BOI) report will force you to disclose information, such as your full legal name and current residential address, along with providing a valid identifying document (e.g., US Passport or state-issued driver’s license).
