Through September 26: Sumer of Love
September 18, 2021
Naked Beauty: The Purest Landscape on Earth is Part Two of the Manoa Village Productions exhibition project Summer of Love, “celebrating the iconic images, moments, protests and movements that have come to define the cultural war of American youth in the 1960s and 1970s.” George Woollard offers his watercolors influenced by the great masters of Europe, where he both studied and taught. Kim Taylor Reece’s photographs celebrate women and highlight the beauty of their form in natural outdoor Hawaiian settings. Hank Taufaasau’s stylized oil paintings are bold depictions of Polynesian women that capture the movement and vibrancy of the times they were created. John Wehrheim chronicles the clothing-optional Taylor Camp in intimate black and white photographs. Louise Mendoza’s photographs display gentle eroticism, abstraction, and modernity. Pascha Brown’s original silver gelatin prints are masterful studies of light and form.
