Join the Hawaiʻi Afterschool Alliance’s presentation about how to best support our LGBTQ+ youth with Amanda Martinez from Mental Health America of Hawaiʻi and Asia Helfrich from Connections Public Charter School.

This presentation will focus on explaining Sexual and Gender Minorities (SGM) terminology and the differences between gender identity and sexual orientation. It will address the struggles that SGM individuals face and how educators, after-school providers, and youth development professionals can be supportive allies and create safe spaces for everyone.

Finally, the presentation will provide local and national resources that support LGBTQ+ youth to help promote and raise awareness, learn more about these issues, and continue the conversation.
