Queer Histories of Hawaiʻi Talk Story

April 29 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

This event is at full capacity and registration is now closed. If you’d like to learn about future Kūpuna Project events, please email Gary Permenter at Gary@HawaiiLGBTlegacy.com

Join the Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation for a special talk story with the creators of Lei Pua ʻAla. This new project will document the history of gender and sexual diversity–and honor the movement for inclusion, justice, & equality–across Hawaiʻi’s uniquely multicultural landscape.

The project seeks to connect with kūpuna who have memories and stories to share of the people, places, and events that “have shaped the lives of our Māhū / LGBTQ+ communities. Together, we can create ways to activate their collective power for the benefit of current and future generations.”

Meet us at the LGBTQIA+ Center in the Waikīkī Business Plaza at 2270 Kalākaua Avenue, Suite #1506 on Monday, April 29 at 5pm. There is ample parking in the building’s ramp, and we’ll validate your ticket for up to two hours. We’ll also provide beverages and light snacks.

Learn more about The LGBTQ+ Center and the Lei Pua ʻAla Queer Histories of Hawaiʻi. Please RSVP by April 25 if you plan to attend this gathering.
