National Coming Out Day at UH Mānoa
October 10 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

UH Mānoa LGBTQ+ Center’s annual fair in commemoration of National Coming Out Day, which is a LGBTQ+ awareness day, to support anyone coming out of the closet. First celebrated in the U.S. in 1988, the initial idea was grounded in the feminist and gay liberation spirit of the personal being political, and the emphasis on coming out to family, friends and colleagues as the most basic form of activism, and living life as an openly LGBTQ+ person.
Fair highlights include:
- 25 LGBTQ+ and ally organizations, churches, service agencies and sports associations
- Local drag performances by Glacier Mugler, Zee and Kelly Price
- Hawaiian Airlines LGBTQ+ employee association, Haʻaheo and corporate recruiting
