Kūpuna Rainbow Town Hall

Join us for the next Kūpuna Rainbow Town Hall on Saturday, September 16 from 1pm-5pm at Ka Waiwai ma Mōʻiliʻili. Get together with friends old and new for an afternoon tea with presentations and talk story. Learn about the Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundationʻs Kūpuna Project and hear from organizations and individuals who are empowering MVPFAFF/LGBTQIA+ kūpuna through education, access to resources and social opportunities.

Scheduled presenters include:

• Gary Permenter & Zabrina Zablan-Duvauchelle will share information about the Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation’s Kūpuna Project and the 2023 Honolulu Pride Festival

• Marsha Tamara will present the Honolulu City and County Elderly Affairs Division 2023-2027 Plan

• Aunty Kim Hāʻupu of the Waiʻanae Moku Kūpuna Council will share plans for a new community group and drop-in center, Kā Ko’o Kūpuna me nā hoa Mahu 

• Meredith Nichols from the Hawaiʻi Dept. of Human Services will explain important post-COVID pandemic changes to MedQuest / Medicaid 

There will also be representatives from groups that provide assistance and are creating intergenerational social events, including, Queer Womxn Adventures in Paradise, Oʻahu Queer Hiking Group, the Sexual and Gender Minority Workgroup, the Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation’s Māhūi, the Honolulu City and County Transportation Services Vision Zero Action Plan, AARP and others.

Presentations will be followed by time for feedback and talk story and an afternoon tea will provide light refreshments and an opportunity to socialize with friends old and new.
