Professional surfer Keala Kennelly wears many hats these days, including actor, professional DJ and Big Wave World Champion. But, there’s one hat that she secretly wore for years while surfing on the world tour, an identity that she hid from her peers and sponsors. In 2005, just two years after finishing runner-up in the World Title chase, the Kaua’i native made the most important decision of her life when she told the world she was gay.
