Kapaemahu: Nā Pōhaku Ola Ceremony

October 6 @ 6:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join the community for the annual Kapaemahu Ceremony at Nā Pōhaku Ola O Kapaemahu A Me Kapuni in Waikīkī.

The sunrise protocol and ceremony sets the tone and intention for Honolulu Pride and will be followed by a community gathering at Queenʻs Beach with games, music, food and fellowship.

This day of remembrance, centering and celebration is hosted by the Māhūi, a cultural and education subcommittee of the Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation. The Māhūi is dedicated to guiding the organizationʻs work, ensuring that it is place-based and reflects Kanaka stories, values and history.

The Kapaemahu Ceremony is free and open to the public. White attire is requested.

Please let us know that youʻll be joining us.

For more information, contact Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation board member and Māhūi committee lead Sami L.A. Akuna at Sami@HawaiiLGBTlegacy.com.
