Through July 7: Gregg Araki Retrospective at HoMA

July 5, 2024

The films of the New Queer Cinema pioneer Greg Araki have seen a resurgence of interest the past few years, with his movies taking on new relevancy. This retrospective at HoMAʻs Doris Duke Theatre includes Araki’s breakout hit The Living End, along with his Teenage Apocalypse Trilogy (Totally F***ed Up, The Doom Generation, and Nowhere) and Mysterious Skin.

Gregg Arakiʻs films have screened at the world’s most renowned festivals including Sundance, Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto, New York, London and Deauville. Araki’s work has inspired a generation of artists exploring queerness and pushing the boundaries of conformity.

As a part of the retrospective, HoMA welcomes special guest James Duval, the star of many of Araki’s films, who will be present for the screenings June 13-15.
