Call for Contributers: Hūlili Special Issue | No Ka Pono o ka Māhūi
March 15
Kamehameha Publishingʻs Hūlili examines the nature, needs, and strengths of Kānaka Maoli and Native Hawaiian communities. Its upcoming special issue, “No ka Pono o ka Māhūi”, will be comprised of works centered on Kanaka Maoli desire, sexuality, gender, and relations, including māhū, aikāne, hoʻo/haʻakāne, hoʻo/haʻawahine, punalua, poʻolua, and hānai.
Co-edited by Dr. Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osorio and Ākea Kahikina, “No ka Pono o ka Māhūi” seeks to rearticulate ʻŌiwi counter-hegemonic pilina—queered under colonial empire—as Indigenous and generative for decolonial ʻŌiwi futures.
