Pride Month Summer Flix
June 12, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Celebrate Pride Month with a special screening of the queer-themed films MY PARTNER and AIKĀNE at the Prince Waikīkī’s Summer Flix presented by the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival. The series of free outdoor movie nights shows every Wednesday at sunset from May 29th to July 31st with a lineup of Hollywood hits, HIFF festival favorites, and award-winning films made in Hawai‘i, complete with filmmaker Q&As.
MY PARTNER is a touching tale of High School crushes, cultural preservation and more. The film follows two high school boys–Pili (Kaipo Dudoit, who was recently cast in the live action LILO & STITCH), a Native Hawaiian student-athlete standout, and Edmar (Jayron Munoz), a high-achieving Filipino student. From different social worlds, they experience romantic feelings for each other when they are paired by their teacher to work on a final semester project together.
AIKANE tells the story of a valiant island warrior, wounded in battle against foreign invaders, who falls into a mysterious underwater world. When the octopus who rescued him transforms into a handsome young man, they become aikāne, bound by love and trust, and an epic adventure begins.
