DESCRIPTION:This storytelling eventwill honor a diverse group of notable kūpuna from the island of Oʻahu\, who will be taking the stage to share their wisdom and memories\, so that we can apply the lessons learned to present day. \nFeatured Storytellers: \nCynthia Thielen – Attorney for the Protect Kaho’olawe ‘Ohana during the activist years; represented the Windward District in the House of Representatives 1990-2020; and currently serving on the State Ethics Commission. \nBrandy Lee – Iconic showgirl and show producer of The Glade nightclub that reopened in 1963 in Honolulu’s Chinatown after a 5-year ban on drag shows in Hawaii. \nNeal Milner – Author\, and longtime Hawaii political analyst and columnist at Honolulu Civil Beat. \nAmy Agbayani– Civil rights advocate and Filipino community leader. \nNaka Nathaniel (Host) – Editor-at-Large at Honolulu Civil Beat. \nThe event will will take place on Thursday\, October 17\, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Dillingham Hall in Punahou School.
