SUMMARY:Hoʻomanaʻo: Raise Your Voice | Virtual Policy Advocacy Training
DESCRIPTION:Students (law students\, college students\, high school students) are all welcome to participate in a Virtual Policy Advocacy Training from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on April 29. \nU.C. Berkeley Law School Policy Advocacy Teaching Fellow Cameron Clark and 2L student Amanda Chang\, along with Hawai’i policy advocates\, including State. Rep. Pat Branco\, will be presenting on “why” and “how” to make a difference on state policy. \nPlanned by Opportunity Youth Action Hui policy internship participants and advocates Lyla Gonsalves (Chaminade University) and Leah Delos Santos (University of Hawai’i) after noting that few testifiers at the state capitol are students and that many students may not know that their voice is needed on policy matters. \nThe Opportunity Youth Action Hui is a collaboration of organizations and individuals committed to reducing the harmful effects of a punitive incarceration system for youth\, promoting equity in the justice system\, and improving and increasing resources to address adolescent and young adult mental health needs. \nThis training session is free and no registration is required. \n
