DESCRIPTION:Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation and the LGBTQ+ Center Honolulu presents a FREE monthly Queer Mental Health Support Group \nThe Rainbow Support Circle provides a nurturing environment for LGBTQIA+/MVPFAFF individuals to explore various mental health topics within a welcoming and empowering group setting\, fostering mental well-being through open discussions and mutual understanding. We strive to create a safe space where folks can share their experiences and receive the support they need to navigate their mental health journey with confidence. \nAbout this month’s session:\nHere in this session\, we’ll discuss the challenges of navigating our mental health as a queer individual. February will focus on creating mental\, physical\, and emotional wellness while processing the current political and social changes affecting LGBTQIA+/MVPFAFF+ individuals. \nSession details:\nGeneral Group – (Second Monday)\nAll sessions start at 5:30 pm \nFREE Virtual Session\, RSVP required. Small group limited to 10 participants per month. \nA waiver will be provided for signature upon arrival to participate in the Rainbow Support Circle session. \nLocation: Virtual | Zoom link will be sent prior to session.

If you’d like to learn about future Kūpuna Project events\, please email Gary Permenter at Gary@HawaiiLGBTlegacy.com \nJoin the Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation for a special talk story with the creators of Lei Pua ʻAla. This new project will document the history of gender and sexual diversity–and honor the movement for inclusion\, justice\, & equality–across Hawaiʻi’s uniquely multicultural landscape. \nThe project seeks to connect with kūpuna who have memories and stories to share of the people\, places\, and events that “have shaped the lives of our Māhū / LGBTQ+ communities. Together\, we can create ways to activate their collective power for the benefit of current and future generations.” \nMeet us at the LGBTQIA+ Center in the Waikīkī Business Plaza at 2270 Kalākaua Avenue\, Suite #1506 on Monday\, April 29 at 5pm. There is ample parking in the building’s ramp\, and we’ll validate your ticket for up to two hours. Break the stigma and start important conversations about promoting mental well-being and encouraging self-care. \nPanelists will include Haylin Dennison\, LCSW\, Kevin Martin\, MS\, Amanda Martinez\, MPH\, and Alex Vidrio. The conversation will be hosted by Hawaiʻi Rainbow Chamber of Commerce Board Member Walter Kinoshita. \nThe Hawaiʻi Rainbow Chamber of Commerce works to empower LGBTQ+ business owners by gaining new skills and access to resources through education\, training\, and events connecting the community and its allies. \nLight refreshments will be provided\, and parking is available for cost at the Waikīkī Business Plaza. Talk story and enjoy light refreshments with members of the Rainbow Kūpuna group at the Osher Lifelong Institute at UH Mānoa and the Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation (HLLF) Kūpuna Project. Learn more about these organizations and help plan and create new social and educational events and projects for older adults.
