SUMMARY:Hawaiiʻs Queer Hiking & Activities Group
DESCRIPTION:Join the Hawai’i Gay Kickball League and the Hawai’i Queer Hiking & Activities Group on Sunday\, Jan 22nd to mālama ‘āina and restore the ‘āina at the Kawainui Marsh in Kailua with Hui o Ko’olaupoko (HOK).\n\nKawainui\, Hawai‘i’s largest wetland\, is threatened by overgrowth of invasive plants such as bullrush\, cattail\, water hyacinth\, and water lettuce. These plants crowd out areas of open water\, reducing habitat for endangered wetland birds such as ‘alae ‘ula (Hawaiian Gallinule)\, ‘alae ke‘oke‘o (Hawaiian Coot) and ae‘o (Hawaiian Stilt).\n\n\nVolunteers will assist with hand-pulling of invasive plants\, while also replanting areas with native wetland plants. All LGBTQIA+ sports leagues\, friends\, and family welcome to join! \n\n\n\nFor more information\, click here.
