Pride Through Giving

The Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation initiated Pride Through Giving in 2020 in order to provide financial and in-kind support to our community in addition to our projects like the LGBTQ+ Center and Honolulu Pride.

With our sponsors, community partners and individual donors, we donated over $20,000 and many hours of volunteer service to Hawaiʻi-based groups addressing the needs of those most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic including the Hawaiʻi Food Bank, the Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center, Aloha Harvest and Gregory House Programs.

In 2021 we focused on in-kind assistance through community partnerships, leadership development and building public awareness of issues important to Hawaiʻiʻs LGBTQ+ people and our families. Through our Rainbow Town Hall series of intersectional dialogues we worked with Waiwai Collective, Lambda Law Students Association, John A. Burns School of Medicine, the UH Mānoa LGBTQ+ Center, the Gay Agenda Collective and others.

In 2022 we made donations totaling more than $15,000 to Neighbor Island Pride Festivals on Maui, Lanaʻi, Kauʻai and in Hilo and Kona; and to Hawaiʻiʻs LGBTQ+ athletic leagues, amplifying the critical work they do supporting the physical and social health and well-being of our community.

This year, we also reached our $50,000 goal for our Student Grant Fund which we will begin accepting applications for in 2023. The Foundation will continue to raise money for the Student Grant Fund and focus our giving on student and youth empowerment programs in 2023.

To support our Pride Through Giving initiatives, you can make a donation, or become a sponsor or volunteer to help us educate and empower LGBTQ+ people as integral members of Hawaiʻiʻs larger diverse community.
