DESCRIPTION:Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. It brings together the entire book community — librarians\, booksellers\, publishers\, journalists\, teachers\, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas\, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular. \nPFLAG National is a member of the Banned Books Week coalition as well as the Book Ban Busters coalition\, to help ensure LGBTQ+ people and their families have the tools\, resources\, and support they need to fight censorship in their community. \nStay up to date on all things Banned Books Week as PFLAG National continues to update their #ReadWithLove landing page on their website. DESCRIPTION:Join PFLAG for this very special August virtual support meeting where attendees will hear from Terry Hu about their experience as a queer\, non-binary\, Asian American actor making headlines for their groundbreaking role as ‘A-spen\,’ Disney’s first live-action nonbinary lead in an original film\, “ZOMBIES 3.” Registrants for the event will also receive a link to view the film. \nPFLAG Connects: Communities meetings provide a safe\, virtual\, moderated space where people with shared experiences can connect each month. Current communities gather people of Latino\, Black/African American\, and Asian American and Pacific Islander backgrounds to gain support\, ask questions\, and learn from others who have been through similar experiences. \nThe AAPI virtual meetings are open to parents\, family members\, and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are AAPI. Each meeting will be led by members of the AAPI community who will guide you in receiving support\, giving support\, and finding resources to help you\, your family\, and your community.
