Tell The Whole Story: MMAA Workshop

May 19, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Modern Military Association of America (the nation’s largest non-profit organization for LGBTQ service members, military spouses, veterans and allies) invites you to join author Seema Reza for an online creative writing workshop offered in partnership with Community Building Art Works. No writing experience required. Writing is a powerful tool for communication, self-discovery, and reflection. We will read a short piece of writing, see what makes it work, and use it to enter into our own stories. Bring a notebook and a good pen.

Seema Reza is the author of the books A Constellation of Half-Lives & When the World Breaks Open. Based in Maryland, she is CEO of Community Building Art Works, an award-winning organization that brings workshops led by professional artists to veterans, service members, and healthcare providers. Her writing has appeared in print and on-line in McSweeney’s, The Feminist Wire, The Washington Post, The LA Review, The Offing, and The Nervous Breakdown among others. She has taught poetry in classrooms, jails, hospitals, and universities, and has performed across the country at universities, theaters, festivals, bookstores, conferences, & one fine mattress shop.

The Modern Military Association of America (MMAA) is the nation’s largest non-profit organization for LGBTQ service members, military spouses, veterans and allies. Formed through the merger of the American Military Partner Association and OutServe-SLDN, we are a united voice for the LGBTQ military and veteran community.
