July 18 – August 2: Honolulu Surf Film Festival
Showcasing the best in surf cinema from around the world and celebrating the sport’s diverse global community, the Honolulu Surf Film Festival returns this year in a new virtual format. The 2020 film lineup will be free to everyone, with films and programming accessible via a video player embedded in each individual program webpage.
The festival kicks off Saturday, July 18 at 7:45pm, with a special live Q+A with Hawaii’s very own Carissa Moore, star of the new film, RISS. Watch RISS online beforehand, then join the live discussion led by accomplished junior surfer Pua DeSoto. And catch the screening Virtual Cinema Nugs 1 on Sunday, July 19 at 4pm, showcasing some of the best short form surf films from around the world. Freeze Frames 2020 screens on Sunday, July 19 at 8pm, following the global coldwater adventures of surfers braving ice and snow for the perfect wave.
Throughout the festival, vote for the features and shorts that inspire you for the Audience Choice awards. Voting will be done through online polls at each screening. Check out the full film lineup here.
