Application deadline: May 14 | Oahu Teen Council
May 11, 2021
Teen Council is Planned Parenthood’s youth leadership peer education program. During Teen Council, youth learn effective education skills and gain knowledge about healthy sexuality and relationships, then apply these skills as peer educators in our local schools. By practicing facilitation, public speaking, and participating in political advocacy, TC teens emerge as self-advocates and allies for their peers and those in their community.
Teen Council is made up of a diverse student body from local O’ahu schools. Members come to the group with different beliefs and viewpoints. No one is expected to already know about sexual health and prevention issues. Teen Council strives to create a Council that is strong and varied in its membership and work actively to build a group that is anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic and anti-transphobic.
The Teen Council
* creates peer to peer dialogue.
* presents as volunteer educators on various topics, such as consent, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, birth control methods and gender & sexuality in local classrooms.
* acts as resources by sharing sexual health information with our friends and peers.
* participates in weekly meetings and trainings to increase knowledge and skills.
* are part of the solution while connecting others to this important work!
