Investigating Hawaiian / Pacific Islander Participation in Sexual Health Studies

May 27, 2021

Dr. Misty Pacheco, faculty at the University of Hawaii – Hilo, is working with the SMART Project at Northwestern University, reaching out to LGBTQ+ Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders for their new research project. They’re interviewing 19-24 year old young adults for a 1-hour Zoom interview (participants are compensated with a $50 online Amazon gift card) to better understand the experiences of Hawaiian and Pacific Islander young adults to increase their participation in sexual health research studies.

SMART is interested in learning more about different locations or on/offline spaces that LGBTQ+ Hawaiian or Pacific Islander people currently hang out or hung out as teens. The interviews are conducted by Dr. Pacheco. Questions or concerns? Contact mistyp@hawaii.edu. The study is approved by University of Hawai’i IRB #2019-00904.
