SUMMARY:Rise & Shine Kūpuna Movie Mornings: “CHARADE” (1963)
DESCRIPTION:Step into a world of glamour\, intrigue\, and sparkling wit at the historic Hawaii Theatre on Monday\, March 10\, with a special screening of the 1963 classic Charade. Often described as “the best Hitchcock film Hitchcock never made\,” this stylish romantic thriller stars the incomparable Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant in a delightfully twisty tale set against the elegant backdrop of Paris. \nWhen Regina Lampert becomes entangled in a dangerous mystery involving a stolen fortune and several unsavory characters\, she finds herself relying on the charming yet enigmatic Peter Joshua—who may not be exactly who he claims to be. Filled with sharp dialogue\, unexpected turns\, and undeniable chemistry between its leads\, Charade balances suspense and romance with effortless sophistication. \nDirected by Stanley Donen and featuring a memorable score by Henry Mancini\, the film remains a standout of 1960s cinema. Join us at Hawaii Theatre to experience this beloved classic on the big screen\, where its humor\, style\, and suspense shine even brighter in the grandeur of one of Honolulu’s most treasured landmarks. \nMore Info:\nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charade_(1963_film) \nThe Hawaii Theatre and the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation are offering the community a film series to provide seniors and other cinema lovers an opportunity to enjoy a morning of camaraderie with coffee\, snacks\, and a classic movie. Over the course of the year\, we’ll present this series and offer tickets on a “pay what you can” basis. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. so patrons can enjoy complimentary pastries from Zippys and coffee from Pōʻai by Pono Potions. Showtime is 11:30 AM.

SUMMARY:Glade Wall Unveiling and Legends Show
DESCRIPTION:The Glade Show Club was a celebrated nightclub in Chinatown famous in the 1960s for its “Boys Will Be Girls” revue and as a place of safety and refuge for Hawaiʻi’s diverse LGBTQ+ Māhū communities. This legendary history is now being brought alive at the Maunakea Marketplae\, the original site of the club\, through a dynamic history wall featuring pictures\, video\, and a glowing replica of the original neon sign. \nThe unveiling ceremony is free and open to the public and will be followed by a live performance by some of the Glade’s living legends in the Maunakea Marketplace Courtyard. \n Don’t miss this joyful community celebration\, reminding us of why Hawaiʻi has always and will continue to be a very special place that welcomes everyone.
