SUMMARY:June 8 - 17: HPR / StoryCorps Military Voices Initiative
DESCRIPTION:Do you know someone you’d like to talk with about their experience in or with the military? Would you like to help preserve their story? This June\, Hawai‘i Public Radio is partnering with StoryCorps to gather two-person conversations as part of StoryCorps’ Military Voices Initiative. \nWhether it’s stories of service… stories of being marginalized… or stories that fall somewhere in between… HPR expects your stories to be as nuanced and diverse as our island communities. All are invited to participate\, from service members and veterans and their families\, to residents who have been impacted by military actions. StoryCorps sessions are intimate conversations between friends or loved ones\, so HPR is looking for pairs. \nWhere are the recordings taking place?\nHPR and StoryCorps will facilitate approximately 50 recording sessions. Each recording session will take about 40 minutes. In-person recordings will take place in Hilo and Honolulu: \n\nHilo\, June 8-10: The Lyman Museum and Mission House\, 276 Haili St.\nHonolulu\, June 13-17: Hawai‘i Public Radio\, 738 Kāheka St.\n\nVirtual recordings will take place June 6-7 for those in Kaua‘i and Maui counties\, with more dates possible based on demand. \nSign up for a recording session here. You’ll be prompted to choose your time slot and fill out your contact information.

SUMMARY:Out & Open
DESCRIPTION:According to a 2021 survey from NGLCC Corporate Partner PWC\, only 34% of small business owners have succession plans. To protect the future of LGBTQ+ bars and restaurants and other LGBTQ+-owned businesses\, Absolut is partnering with NGLCC to make succession planning training more accessible to LGBTQ+ business owners. These succession trainings\, hosted by NGLCC subject matter experts\, will take place virtually and in person in multiple cities and at NGLCC events this year. LGBTQ+ business owners can register here to receive registration information as it becomes available to learn how they can protect the future of their business so they can continue to provide a safe\, joyful space to their communities.\n\nAn audio-visual series launches Out & Open on Absolut.com by bringing to life real stories from inside the walls of these vital spaces. In the series\, members of the LGBTQ+ community share their personal stories that highlight the poignant role that LGBTQ+ bars have played\, and continue to play\, in their lives. For every listen and/or share of the stories on Absolut.com/us/out-and-open\, Absolut will make an additional donation to the NGLCC to expand its succession planning programming.
