This year\, the Human Rights Campaign and SHOWTIME® have increased their commitment to this program and will support at least an additional 25 small queer businesses. \nAt a time when LGBTQ+ businesses are working hard to stay open\, they’re also faced with fighting against a wave of hate like we’ve never seen before. Opponents of progress seek to challenge the very existence of LGBTQ+ people and the spaces that they occupy. That is why LGBTQ+-serving businesses are so important; they provide a space for queer folks to be their authentic selves and live their best lives— and they’re not going anywhere. Following a long spell of unemployment\, Haider finally lands a job at a Bollywood-style burlesque\, telling his family he is a theater manager\, when in actuality\, he is a backup dancer. \nThe unusual position shakes up the steadfast traditional dynamics of his household and enables Haider to break out of his shell. DESCRIPTION:King Kamehameha III established Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea (Sovereignty Restoration Day) in 1843 as a days-long celebration following the rightful return of sovereign government to Hawaiʻi by the United Kingdom\, after an illegal seizure by one of their representatives. He proclaimed\, “Ua mau ke ea o ka ʻāina i ka pono”–the ea (sovereignty\, life\, breath) of our land is perpetuated through justice. \nHawaiians continue to breathe life into sovereignty\, and one way to do this is to celebrate ka Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea. Pacific Business News is looking for LGBTQ leaders\, companies\, and allies in Hawaii who are successful in their careers\, active in their communities\, and advocates for inclusion and equality. \nTo ensure your nomination is as competitive as possible\, please review the following tips: \n1. Ensure that all areas of the nomination are filled out\, and each question is answered.  The judges can only work off of information provided in the nomination packet and/or letters of support- so if something isn’t listed\, it can’t be considered. \n2. For ease\, feel free to use bullet points\, numbers\, etc. instead of full paragraphs. \n3. The best and most successful nominations include facts and figures\, not opinions.  For example\, let us know how a person or company increased revenue that year and provide numbers\, vs. letting us know that they are “great to work with”. \n4.
