DESCRIPTION:Oʻahu homeowners struggling because of the pandemic may be eligible to receive financial assistance\, mortgage counseling\, and other resources to help them avoid foreclosure under a new State of Hawaiʻi program that launched on Friday\, January 21. \nQualified applicants may be able to receive up to $30\,000 in funding through the program to help cover mortgages\, property taxes\, utility payments\, homeowner association fees\, and other expenses. \nPriority will be for homeowners who are: \n\nbehind on their mortgages due to the pandemic\nEarning at or below 100% area median income (AMI) or are considered socially disadvantaged\n\nThe program is managed by the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement on behalf of the State of Hawaiʻi. DESCRIPTION:Each year\, Anaina Hou’s Social Awareness Film Festival features a theme that focuses on the opportunity to enlighten and create understanding on a broad range of topics that speak to the challenges and beauty of being a human being on this amazing planet; things like agriculture\, the environment and climate change\, art & culture\, socio-economic issues\, LGBTQIA+ issues\, geopolitical issues\, revolutionary changes\, race\, religion and immigration. The theme for this year’s SAFF is Voices. \nIn the tradition of SAFF\, each evening will feature a talk story discussion with the director or someone from the film. Various live stream features allow for different ways to be involved with the director discussion. Select films will feature a private link to watch the film at any time on the day it screens. DESCRIPTION:As part of the development of their new production Walking On Eggshells\, the artists are engaging the Hawai‘i community in a series of free work-in-progress showings and workshops. \nThis event at The ARTS at Marks Garage\, exploring gender / sexualism / immigration of the body\, will be facilitated by Sami L.A. Akuna aka Cocoa Chandelier with the goal of inviting dialogue that fosters mutual respect for the diverse beliefs and values of all persons and groups. A light lunch will be provided and attendees are encouraged to stay and eat with the performers afterwards and share their thoughts about the workshop.
