SUMMARY:Intersectionality: The Now of Marketing
DESCRIPTION:Intersectionality is a term that’s being used more and more\, but what does it mean\, and why should you care? Intersectionality describes a system where inequality based on race\, gender\, gender identity\, disability and other forms of discrimination “intersect” to create unique dynamics and compounded experiences. \nThe concept of intersectionality has become a common conversation starter in the zeitgeist of today. And as such\, businesses too are recognizing the importance of intersectionality and its relevance in the business model to reach a more diverse and appropriate audience. We’ve already begun to see companies embrace this concept successfully such as Dove and Patagonia\, while others have struggled to properly and genuinely grasp this concept. \nIn this panel discussion\, AMA Hawaiʻi and the Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation have gathered individuals from different industries to share their professional views on the importance of the concept of intersectionality\, its importance in their field\, and how it’s being incorporated in their marketing efforts. \nLearn more and purchase tickets here.
