SUMMARY:Through September 15: Coyote Park | All Kin is Blood Kin
DESCRIPTION:Aupuni Space presents All Kin is Blood Kin by Coyote Park\, an intimate exploration of what family means within a queer context. Family comes in all forms. Family shifts like the tides: drawing us closer to people\, drifting from others\, but always carrying us collectively. All Kin is Blood Kin is a love story to Park’s trans family\, honoring all of the people that remind them of what family means. \nWhile drawn from a larger series by the same name\, the photographic selections on display highlight Park’s connection to Hawai‘i\, having grown up on the island of O‘ahu. Park is Indigenous to Northern California (Yurok)\, and has been deeply influenced by growing up in Hawai‘i where their family immigrated to. \nWhere is the place we come home to as people born from a nation of immigrants? Where do we call home when we are othered due to who we love and who we are? \nLearn more by clicking here.

SUMMARY:Through September 26: Sumer of Love
DESCRIPTION:Naked Beauty: The Purest Landscape on Earth is Part Two of the Manoa Village Productions exhibition project Summer of Love\, “celebrating the iconic images\, moments\, protests and movements that have come to define the cultural war of American youth in the 1960s and 1970s.” George Woollard offers his watercolors influenced by the great masters of Europe\, where he both studied and taught. Kim Taylor Reece’s photographs celebrate women and highlight the beauty of their form in natural outdoor Hawaiian settings. Hank Taufaasau’s stylized oil paintings are bold depictions of Polynesian women that capture the movement and vibrancy of the times they were created. John Wehrheim chronicles the clothing-optional Taylor Camp in intimate black and white photographs. Louise Mendoza’s photographs display gentle eroticism\, abstraction\, and modernity. Pascha Brown’s original silver gelatin prints are masterful studies of light and form. \nFor more information\, click here.

SUMMARY:Virtual HANOCON 2021: Shifting Paradigms
DESCRIPTION:HANOCON is Hawaii’s largest annual gathering of nonprofit professionals–as well as sector allies\, supporters\, and advocates–to network\, learn\, share ideas\, collaborate\, and partner. This year’s HANOCON conference theme is Shifting Paradigms\, inspired by the Native Hawaiian concept of makawalu\, a way of seeing and understanding more than just what is before us. It is the vision and contemplation that allows us to see beyond now and prepare us for what is to come\, to see the change that must take place before movement happens. Join the Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations to embrace makawalu as we begin to shift paradigms in the nonprofit sector to honor\, uplift and restore indigenous ways of thinking\, knowing and being in Hawaiʻi. \nLearn more and register here.
